An exciting opportunity has become available within in Devon to be part of the Junipers psychiatric intensive care unit Occupational Therapy Team. The team aims to provide a recovery focused Occupational Therapy (OT) service to support people to reengage with their ordinary lives across a 7 day service. Within the inpatient setting we use the VdT Model of Creative Ability from point of admission to discharge.

Main duties of the job

This post will be to work closely as an integral member of the multi-disciplinary within an inpatient team and other services. Through using the VdT MoCA the post holder will identify treatment aims, needs for discharge and support recovery through therapeutic intervention's. Working closely with the Occupataional Therapy team the post holder will support and input to the theraputic timetable offered. Within the role there are a variety of professional development opportunities.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Diploma / Degree Occupational Therapy
  • HCPC registered or HCPC registration pending
  • Basic IT Skills

Desirable

  • Basic therapeutic skills eg. CBT, motivational interviewing
  • Fieldwork Practice educators course.

Experience

Essential

  • Some mental health experience.
  • Experience of working with vulnerable patient's

Knowledge & Skills

Essential

  • Knowledge of core OT skills
  • Understanding of OT principles and theories.
  • Good assertive skills.
  • Good personal boundaries.
  • Professional judgement and clinical reasoning.
  • Able to work independently and use initiative.

Desirable

  • Awareness MOHO assessments-OSA and MOHOST.
  • Understanding of recovery principles.
