Job Description:

Children and Family Health Devon (CFHD) have developed an innovative, integrated model of childrens community services and now looking to appoint enthusiastic individuals to join our friendly and dedicated locality and county-wide professional teams.

We are excited to be advertising for a Band 6 Engagement and Participation Worker to join our team on a part-time basis (22.5 hours a week). This role is being offered on a fixed term basis (1 year).

We are seeking a motivated and creative individual to join our small, dynamic team, dedicated to improving services through participation and co-production. In this role, you will work closely with children, young people, parents, and carers to develop and facilitate participation groups and innovative projects aimed at capturing meaningful feedback from service users.

Main duties of the job

Key responsibilities include: Support and oversee organisation-wide engagement activities and co-design projects with service users.

  • To plan and support regular CFHD participation groups for children and young people and parents and carers.
  • Contribute to the continued development and improvement of user participation culture within the organisation.
  • Using community engagement skills, to recruit and support participation volunteers.
  • Using story telling as a tool to increase participation and understanding of service user experience
  • Supporting people with Lived Experience when participating in involvement activities

Children and Family Health Devon (CFHD) comprises an Alliance of NHS organisations working together to improve health outcomes for children and young people in Devon.

CFHD provides integrated care and treatment for children and young people across physical and mental health which are provided by Torbay and South Devon Foundation Trust and Devon Partnership Trust. We are working closely with other organisations and providers to ensure we deliver locality and county-wide based integrated access to all of our services, based on the i-Thrive Framework, in response to consultation with our service users and communities.

Our integrated care and treatment has been developed and refined in partnership with children, young people and their families/carers.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Essential

  • Be able to plan, risk assess and carry out engagement activities with CYP and families, including activities with Partner organisations.
  • Chairing meetings virtually and face to face
  • To be able to use story telling as a tool to increase participation and understanding of service user experience
  • To be able to build positive working relationships with staff at all levels of CFHD, other relevant organisations and children, young people and families
  • Training and supporting staff and service users in participation approaches such as co-design and coproduction.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree level training in Youth and Community , Teaching, social work or equivalent qualification
  • Postgraduate level qualification accredited by the National Youth Agency (NYA) or equivalent qualification.
  • e.g. Training in consultation and participation of young people, counselling, therapeutic practice,

Desirable

  • Experience working with health services.

Experience

Essential

  • Extensive experience of supporting People with Lived Experience when participating in involvement activities
  • Partnership working with a range of agencies.
  • Knowledge and skills in use of social media and non-face to face methods of engagement with young people.
  • Ability to analyse data/ feedback, that is often conflicting, and provide an appraisal to managers on implications to service design and delivery.
