Job description and person specification

Job Description:

This is an exciting opportunity to join our dedicated multidisciplinary mental health team working in HMP Channings Wood. The post holder will support the prison mental health operational manager to be part of an integrated multi-disciplinary team, working in partnership with service users, carers and other agencies to provide excellent care to prisoners which is, as far as possible, equitable to that which they would receive in the community. The successful applicant will hold a CPA case-load and be involved in initial assessment and decision making about appropriate therapeutic interventions in line with the Stepped Care Model.

As a Directorate, we provide forensic mental health services for the South West region and have an excellent reputation. We employ over 300 staff and have ambitious plans in place to expand and develop our existing services. We support people who, as a consequence of their mental health needs, have had contact with the criminal justice system and require a safe and secure environment that enables them to receive a wide range of treatments, therapies and care to support their recovery. Recovery is at the heart of everything we do - it is about people building a meaningful life and represents a shift away from focusing on illness and symptoms towards a focus on personal health, strengths and wellness. Within the Prison Healthcare Service we ensure that all prison inmates have appropriate assessment and care plans & risk assessments in place, with access to a full range of therapeutic interventions.

To apply for this post you must be able to demonstrate excellent clinical and communication skills across areas of complex service need. You will hold an appropriate clinical qualification and will either hold, or be prepared to train in, qualifications including DBT, CBT and other recovery based therapies.
