We are seeking to recruit a confident, enthusiastic and highly motivated Occupational Therapy Assistant to work in our adult acute mental health wards at The Cedars, Exeter.

Working as part of a team, you will help to deliver recovery-focused treatment programmes, including group and 1:1 work.

We are looking for experienced Occupational Therapy assistants as well as individuals who have not yet achieved their QCF/NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care, or have an equivalent qualification and are prepared to train.

This post may be a training opportunity for candidates who do not already hold a QCF/NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care or have an equivalent qualification. Where this is offered as a training post, the starting salary will be at £14,313.60, and will increase to £15,336 after 12 months. You will be supported to complete the qualification within 18 months, after which your salary will be adjusted to £17,787, the starting salary of someone who already holds the qualification.

This Level 3 qualification forms the first step in the career development pathway for those joining the Trust who are wishing to progress onto completing the Level 5 Foundation Degree as a gateway to developing your career pathway within the Trust.

This is an exciting role where you will have the opportunity to make your mark. You will play a key role in helping patients with complex needs from across Devon to recover.

About you

You will have experience of working in a challenging and demanding mental health environment and have a sound understanding of recovery and self-management principles. You will recognize the importance and benefits of positive risk taking in helping people with their recovery.

The ability to work well within a team is essential. You will be required to carry out duties as directed by the qualified Occupational Therapy staff. You will be excited by the opportunity of helping patients from across Devon to overcome their mental health problems, and recover.

You will be expected to undertake flexible working patterns, adapting to service needs. As part of the role you will be expected to work daytime, evening and weekends as part of your standard working pattern.
