Job Description:

The role

· To lead and develop our inpatient Occupational Therapy service including linking to the Engagement and involvement Team, our community forensic discharge team and three Devon Prisons. All of these services being part of the secure services directorate.

· To lead and supervise senior Occupational Therapy staff.

We are looking for an experienced mental health professional who has worked within an Occupational Therapy setting to contribute to the development of the Forensic Occupational Therapy service within Langdon Hospital, the community Forensic service and the three Prisons in Devon. You will be based at Langdon Hospital within the senior Leadership Team, playing a key role in the organisation’s strategy, quality and performance. Therefore the role will allow you opportunities to develop your skills and knowledge, whilst contributing to the service as we seek to expand.

About you

You will be an experienced Occupational Therapist with a proven track record of managing and leading teams. You will be able to motivate, inspire and support a team.

The nature of the role demands extensive knowledge of the mental health act and other legislation and codes of practice. Experience of working within a forensic healthcare setting is desirable.

A clear and confident communicator, you will work closely and collaboratively with colleagues and clinical teams. You’ll be confident at solving problems, and an ability to take on new approaches to care.

Langdon Hospital

Langdon Hospital is home to Devon Partnership NHS Trust's forensic mental health service.

The service supports people who, as a result of their mental health issues, have had contact with the legal system and need a safe and secure environment that enables them to receive a wide range of treatments, therapies and care to help them recover.

Our site offers free parking, a patient-led café, onsite gym and spectacular views across the Dawlish coast and countryside.

We are holding an open day from 10.00 a.m to 3p.m on Thursday 8th August here at Langdon Hospital, which would be an ideal time to meet the team. Please contact Gail Still on 07951 276500 gail.still@nhs.net if you would like to attend the day. In any event visits to Langdon Hospital are very much welcome ahead of the interview. The closing date for this position is 18th August with a planned interview date of Thursday 29th August.
